US Student Council Starts the Year With A Bang By: Lady May Martinez
The US Student Council has hit the ground running this school year. Headed by Student Council President Ryan Bang (US 4 Northwestern), with Vice President Michelle Bocanegra (US 4 Oxford), Secretary Samantha Zerrudo (US 4 Duke), Treasurer, Kim Won Sok (US 4 Oxford) and Auditor Jonathan Kingsu (US 4 Duke), and moderated by Ms. Dina Wamilda, they held two big, successful events this July.
A Traffic-Stopping Party
The first was the new students’ acquaintance party held last July 6, 2009 at the Lee Kuan Yew Hall. Dubbed Traffic @ Reedley: The Reedley Acquaintance - Fun-filled and Interactive Celebration, the event had old and new students mingling and having fun in the various Getting-To-Know-You activities, and game booths such as Guitar Hero, and the Limbo Jack booth.
Hip Hop Til You Drop
The second was the US 1 Batch Dinner, where the students dressed in their most happening hip-hop outfits, to fit in with the theme of Into The Hood: Go Rappin’ and Hip Hoppin’ with US 1.
Everyone was in high spirits last July 24,2 009, as the students surprised and delighted everyone with their dancing and singing. It was clear that the US 1 students were out to make their mark in Upper School.
Best performance of the event went to Group 1, composed of Jentry Arbis , Andrew Yu (US 1 Berkeley), Rina Biscocho (US 1 Stanford), Trina Samson (US 1 Pepperdine), Caitlin Co, Julio Martelino, Joanna Tanada and Ramon Isabela (US 1 Georgetown). While Best MaleĀ Performer went to Miguel Luis of US 1 Berkeley, and Best Female Performer went to Celina Cayco of US 1 Stanford.
