Reedley Graduates to meet Obama in person

Reedley International School graduates Paul Cruz and Anna Liwanag will have front row seats in the oath taking ceremonies of the 44th US President Barack Obama this coming January 20, 2009, at the White House in Washington D.C.!

The two Reedley International School alumni will be joining invited participants at the National Mall in the morning of Jan. 20 to witness the inaugural parade and President Barack Obama’s motorcade from the Capitol Building to the White House.

Also in their itinerary, Paul and Anna would also be able to meet members of the US Congress, White House officials, presidential historians, political experts and the other who’s-who of the US government. The day will be capped off with a black-tie gala at the White House.

How lucky can they get right?

Did you know that both Paul and Anna were selected by the organizers of the University Presidential Inaugural Conference (UPIC) for their outstanding achievements during the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) held in June 2007 when they were both seniors in Reedley International School?

What did they do that got them to be the apples in UPIC’s eyes?

Here’s more: they are said to be the only students who will be representing the Philippines in this historic event.

Way to go Paul and Anna! Go Reedley!

But wait…

However, these two are not raffle draw winners since it is not an all-expenses paid trip. They both would need to raise around $4,000 (roughly P200,000) each to cover UPIC “fees,” which include the cost of events and activities, hotel accommodation for four nights, meals, and transportation during the conference, hotel tips and taxes, and group insurance, and airfare.

How do we help them raise funds for this momentuous event of their lives, and for the Philippine youth?
